Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe
Afghani all-rounder Mohammad Nabi played a important role in winning the last T20I series, Knocking of seven runs in three balls in the final over which led to a three-wicket victory to Afghanistan against Zimbabwe in the third T20I at Harare Sports Club on Saturday which took a series over by 2-1.
The top scorer Azmatullah Omarzai Scores 34 and also gets 2 wickets. Fellow allrounder Nabi the second highest scorer scores 24 of 18 balls and remained unbeaten and helped the team to win the series against the Zimbabwe.
Afghanistan won the toss and choose to bowl first, which was a change is strategies compared to previous matches whereas Afghanistan chose to bat first. while Zimbabwean opener Brian Bennett led the team’s batting by smashing 31 runs, including 4 boundaries helped Zimbabwe to set a target of 128 runs.
Once again Rashid khan captain of Afghanistan continued his previous match streak by taking 4-27.
Afghanistan faced a downfall in their top order batting line up Gurbaz 15(15), Sediqullah 3(7), Zubaid Akbari 2(5), Darwish Rasooli 9(8). While a crucial partnership of 48 runs between omarzai 34(37), Gulbadin 22(22) gave the hopes.
Later on Omarzai got dismissed by Sikandar Raza when 13 balls were still left out which gave a immense hope to the team Zimbabwe.
However, Zimbabwe’s desire to win was taken away by Nabi who gave a match winning performance of 18 ball innings, featuring with 3 fours and marked their sixth consecutive T20I series win against Zimbabwe.
Nabi to the reporters:
“In the middle of our innings we lost some wickets cheaply which put pressure on us”
But I managed to control my nerves and that gave me the confidence to go on and score the series-winning runs.
Next up is the one-day international series and this wicket is not easy to judge. The pitch for the first two games was better — today it was up and down.
Both the Team are looking forward to mark their first win in upcoming three match ODI series starting in Harare on Tuesday, Followed by this two test matches will be played in the Bulawayo.
